Results for the Top Teams

Tournament day saw early morning thunderstorms, stopping around 7am, with cloudy skies and a cold front moving through and temperatures dropping from the mid 50's later in the day. These conditions couldn't stop Justin Cook of New Franklin, MO and Gary Ryan of Columbia, MO from taking first place of the event, weighing in at 121.46 pounds and earning $2,800, plus an additional $460 Big Fish and $300 Driftmaster Bonus. The team fished north of Captain Ron's around MM 52, anchoring and targeting flats in 15 feet of water using shad for bait to land 12 fish for the day, including Big Kat of the event, weighing 39.46 pounds.

Taking second place were Andrew Little of Ashland, MO and Jeff Sanger of Hartsburg, MO with a total weight of 97.08 pounds and earned $1,400. The team fished down from Captain Ron's near MM 20 finding their fish up in coves following bait, that were holding in 15 – 18 feet of water. The team caught over 20 fish using shad for bait stating that the cold front shut the fish from biting around 11am.

Justin Neece of Odessa, MO and Mike Carpenter of Breckinridge, MO took third place weighing in at 59.58 pounds and earned $975.00. The team fished between MM 65 and 70 in 15 – 18 feet of water, anchoring all day over structure using shad for bait to land 9 fish for the day.

A special thank you to Paul Hooper and his staff at Lake of the Ozarks West Chamber of Commerce for hosting the event along with Captain Ron's, Ozark Bait & Tackle and the Tri- County Lodging Association. “This is the first year King Kat has ever been on Lake of the Ozarks and we are excited to start growing this event. We had a great deal of wonderful local sponsors and support! This is a growing fishery that will be in the top catfish waters soon. We are hoping to get Lake of the Ozarks back on the schedule in 2019!”
