Results for the Top Teams

Weather was in the low 90's both days with light winds and a light current, making the bite difficult. There was a slow current on Friday which saw some great weights, however, on Saturday there was little to no current, causing the fish not to bite for most anglers. These conditions didn't stop David Shipman and Brooke Wilbanks, both of Corinth, Mississippi from taking first place weighing in at 142.06 pounds and winning a Boat Package, $3,000.00 and the $600.00 DriftMaster Bonus. The team fished south of Flipper's Bait and Tackle towards Old Hickory Dam in 45 – 50 feet of water, anchoring and drifting. David and Brooke targeted their fish in the river channel, as well as some structure using skipjack for bait and gave credit to the 7 foot and drift baits in the river channel. The team won a new Alumacraft 1860 boat with a 75hp Mercury 4-stroke motor, Humminbird Helix 7 Chirp SI, Minn Kota Maxxum 80 trolling motor and Minn Kota on-board charger. They also won the DriftMaster bonus, which consist of $400.00 in entry fees in 2018 or $600.00 in product. Congratulations to the team!

Taking second place were David Hill of Louisville, Tennessee and Kenneth McKenzie of Rockford, Tennessee weighing in at 141.36 pounds and earning $3,000.00. The team also fished down river around the Old Hickory Dam in the river channel in 45 – 50 feet of water, anchoring and using skipjack for bait to land 12 fish for the weekend. David and Kenneth were in the lead on Day 1, however due to no current on Day 2, their fish just weren't biting.

Steve and Lisa Douglas, of Bardstown, Kentucky took third place weighing in at 139.06 pounds and earning $1,500.00. The team fished south towards the dam, working the edge of the river channel using planer boards to cover the entire channel. Steve and Lisa targeted their fish in the 50 foot range, using skipjack for bait.

Taking fourth place were Frank Wright and Aaron Preece, both of Chesapeake, West Virginia with a total weight of 128.68 pounds and earning $1,000.00. The team fished south as well, towards the dam, targeting their fish in 60 plus feet of water on the river ledges. Frank and Aaron used skipjack and shad guts from Big Kat Bait Company, landing 15 total fish for the 2-Day event.

Joey Pounders of Steens, Mississippi and Jay Gallop of Caledonia, Mississippi took fifth place weighing in at 116.08 pounds and earning $800.00. The team fished near Cairo boat ramp, just upriver from Flipper's Bait and Tackle in 35 – 60 feet of water near trees on Day 1, but not having much luck, targeted rock walls and ledges on Day 2. Joey and Jay anchored using live shad to land 15 total fish for the weekend giving credit to their 10 foot B 'n' M poles for helping land their fish and X-Treme bait tank for helping to keep their live shad healthy.

Also, a big thank you to Flippers Bait & Tackle for cooking breakfast for all the anglers and their hospitality during the weekend.
